I think of your Dad a lot, either driving past the junction in Hendon where his flat was or thinking about the family more widely. The last conversation we had was about tephilin. I’ve just recieved the tephilin I ordered for Gilly for his Barmitzvah (in 4 weeks) and it got me thinking about that conversation. Your Dad explained to me that he’d given you his tephilin and instead started to use his fathers set. That would be a 100 + year old set of tephilin - and still kosher at their last check so your Dad told me. Do you know where they are now? I love the idea of what they represent - Abraham Goschalk’s tephilin, something that unites us Baum’s Kirsh’s Kornbluth’s cousin Cynthia and of course Goschalks! I’d love to see them…
