We have been truly blessed to have had the zechus to have Uncle Sidney so close to us for so many years.

I remember us going to Uncle Sidney and Aunty Mildred when we were kids. My memories are so happy of our families together. Just one example of many funny moments, one year Uncle Sidney and Aunty Mildred joined us in our home in Raleigh Close for a Rosh Hashanah meal. This one stuck in my mind as we had a fish head on the table, Aunty Mildred wasn’t happy about that and I had to remove it pretty quickly.

Around 15 years ago we started a new business and we were looking for someone to help with our bookkeeping. We found a wonderful, charming, capable man who fit the bill. Uncle Sidney came in to help us at the beginning a couple of times a week. A major side benefit was that this gave us an opportunity to spend a little time chatting together. ..after work of course.

When we moved to Israel we stayed in touch by phone. Every year pre COVID Uncle Sidney came to stay with Anthony and Julia in the King David Hotel for Yom Tov and Anthony was always kind to contact us and invite us over. Thereby we could keep in touch and get to see all of them. How wonderful Anthony and Julia and all the children were to Uncle Sidney. I know he got much, much nachas from his children, their spouses and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. How proud he was when he spoke about them. Of course he missed Aunty Mildred terribly but he made the most of his life. Uncle Sidney always had a ready smile and a kind word, and he loved learning. What a wonderful example he was. Tears are coming down my cheeks as I write this.

I am so happy that we managed to see Uncle Sidney when we came to London just before COVID.As I said at the beginning I feel very lucky to have spent so much time with him. We loved him and we miss him.

May his memory be a blessing.
