I remember meeting Uncle Sidney for the first time when he and his wife were visiting my grandfather, Ralph Denton (Sidney’s uncle) and his wife Theresa, in their home at 16 Brampton Grove. This was probably on a visit back to England from Israel, where my family were living from the year 1965. Sidney’s mother was Ralph’s older sister. Much more recently, when I was researching the Dombrowski side of the family, I visited him and asked him questions, and found him very alert and interested, quite remarkable for a man of his age. He also had that steady and methodical quality particular to many of the Dombrowski men. After more research and a trip to southern Poland I visited the town of Pinczow, which is where the Dombrowski family were living from the early 18th century until they moved to Kielce. They subsequently moved on to Warsaw in the mid-19th century, and I found records from that time showing connections between the Dombrowski and Goschalk families. Uncle Sidney was very interested to hear about my findings.
